Veteran’s Day- Honoring The Leehan Family

Today, as we proudly Thank all of our Veterans who so bravely give so much to defend our country, my heart is heavy as one soldiers wife grieves for her husband who should have been coming home today for his R&R. I remember this session with happiness. He was a daddy who was connected to his children, who danced with his daughter as though no one was watching, who played with his baby boy and in return was loved with gummy smiles and laughter. A husband who held his wife close as though time was standing still. A photographers dream as he did exactly as I had hoped he would….he simply enjoyed an hour with his family while I clicked every moment. Now, as these images are captured forever…his daughter will remember that dance with her daddy, his son will see how his daddy made him smile and laugh. His wife will forever have that moment when he held her and time stood still…. Audrey  Leehan,  my thoughts, love and prayers are with you and your children. Thank you for choosing me to photograph your family. Though I only spent a short amount of time with Damon, I am honored to have witnessed the pure love he had for his family. Words can never be enough to thank our soldiers for their bravery and sacrifice.

Thank you for all of the kind words. I have always felt that photography was so much more than a family picture. It is a way to give people the gift of capturing precious moments in their lives. I can’t say enough how happy I am that the Leehan family has these pictures and that they were willing to give us all a glimpse inside their sweet family. ~ Melissa
